DEPENDENCE ON WATER
1) Between 3 and 5 million children less than 5 yrs old die each year.

2) The global rate of potable water consumption is growing at twice the human population growth rate.

3) 88% of all diseases are caused by unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.

4) Water is absolutely essential to the human body's survival. A person can live for about a month without food, but only about a week without water.

5) Water leads to overall greater health by flushing out wastes and bacteria that can cause disease.

6) Approximately 66% of the human body consists of water. Water exists within all our organs and it is transported throughout our body to assist physical functions.

7) Human brains are 75% water.

8) Human bones are 25% water.

9) Human blood is 83% water

10) A person must consume 2 liters of water daily to live healthily. Humans drink an average of 75,000 liters of water throughout their life.

11) To function properly, the body requires between one and seven liters of water per day to avoid dehydration. Typically, a woman needs 2.7 liters of water a day and a man needs 3.7 liters of water a day.

12) When you calculate all the water used to grow our food supply, human beings eat more water then we drink.

13) Half of all people in developing countries lack proper sanitation.

14) Water demands worldwide have tripled over the last 50 years.

15) Compared to other animals human beings are at a disadvantage when it comes to water. Humans cannot survive on sea water, can't live under water and cannot capture rain water on their backs. Humans lose water through perspiration, urination and exhalation (we breathe out water vapor).
