The Company

The Water Initiative, LLC (“TWI” or “the Company”) is a Delaware limited liability company founded in 2006.  The Company markets customized “Point-of-Drinking” (POD) water purification devices creating sustainable businesses with local entrepreneurial partners who manufacture, distribute, sell, maintain and collect fees for TWI’s POD devices and services.  Although the global water market is greater than $600 billion in annual revenues, there is still a large need for solutions and ways to provide affordable, convenient, effective and trustworthy drinking water, especially in the middle and lower income urban and peri-urban communities of developing countries.

Our goal is to become the most trusted source for POD clean water solutions to the world.  Our Point-of-Drinking strategy is built upon two unique “pillars”:
  • Product Development.  Designing POD solutions using a “targeted” approach; and
  • Market Development.  Developing unique “co-created” business models to deliver affordable, convenient, effective and trustworthy clean water solutions through our network of microentrepreneurs.
In addition, the Company has a highly differentiated strategy for growth and scaling, beginning with a focused launch in Mexico and now, Saudi Arabia, followed by expansion to other relevant markets in Latin America and around the world.  To our knowledge, no other POD water company in the world has combined these elements together into an integrated end-to-end strategy.
